为了重塑人们对日本南部铁器的认知，此款铁壶成为重要的促进因素。 这款铁壶是由及富第六代传人的次子菊地章于昭和时代（1926-1989年）后期所设计，创作的初衷是为了发掘铁壶的潜力，让更多人被铁壶所吸引 。
章的妻子在创作时敏锐地观察到完成后的铁壶外观宛如燕子般，因而将其命名为“燕形铁壶”。
当这款作品问世时，日本南部铁器的主流仍是传统设计，因而使得这款创新设计难被客户接受，导致停产。 然而，在历经30多年的岁月后，随着生活方式的不断改变，经由2020年在Twitter上采取的战略性介绍，燕形铁壶终于得以复兴。 其热烈的反响促使此款铁壶的复刻生产，成为一款永恒的杰作。
在铁壶的制作过程中绝不可或缺的环节就是对内部采取釜烧法进行高温烘烤，是炼制铁壶过程中必不可少的步骤。 这款重生的铁壶不仅适用于烧水，也适用于补充铁质。
木制盖钮虽然曾一度遭时代淘汰，如今的重现不仅恢复原始设计，还进一步升级。 丸三漆器工房使用岩手县传统工艺品之一的秀衡涂，对盖钮施以精致的擦漆装饰。
与传统的易传热铁制盖钮不同，木制盖钮确保了茶壶的可触碰性。 此外，盖钮上的涂漆还具有非常卓越的防水效果。
