DESCRIPTION
We take pleasure in presenting a distinctive Tetsubin, distinct from those fashioned by Oitomi. This particular Tetsubin has been meticulously crafted by Shingo Kikuchi (菊池真吾), a seasoned traditional craftsman hailing from Shokado. His workshop is situated in Oshu City, Iwate Prefecture, coinciding with our own locale.
The designation of "traditional craftsman" bears official recognition from the Japanese government.
The handle of the lid is adorned with charming chrysanthemum flowers. On both sides of the iron kettle, wild chrysanthemums are delicately depicted, vividly capturing the scene of chrysanthemums blooming at one's feet under a clear sky. The admiration that everyone has felt at some point, not limited to chrysanthemums, is evident, shining through the artist's sensibility.
The handle (hilt) is a valuable hand-forged creation. Its distinctive feature lies in the graceful curve, reminiscent of the feathered robe of a celestial maiden from ancient tales. This design not only exudes elegance but also excels in practicality, offering a comfortable grip when held.
Internally, a technique called kama-yaki has been employed to coat the surface with an oxidized film, eschewing the application of any paint.
*Kindly note that the handmade nature of each item may result in slight variations between the actual product and the photographs.
