在日語中，貓頭鷹唸作「Fukurou」。
因諧音與「不苦勞」相同，因此貓頭鷹被視為是吉祥的象徵，持續受到大眾喜愛。
「不苦勞」正如字面所示，代表著沒有艱苦。
樹樁的部分有一個孔洞，可以插筆或放印章。
