Notice

The surface is coated with an antirust oxide layer using the traditional technique called kama-yaki, but because it is cast iron, rust may occur due to moisture and humidity.
Since the inside is not enameled, the leached iron and tannin may bind and discolor the tea. It is harmless to the human body.

DESCRIPTION

This design, drawing inspiration from the Japanese umbrella, has resonated profoundly with the French populace.

Emerging a decade ago, this iron kettle materialized within the context of a special project undertaken by workshops in Iwate Prefecture. It stands as one of the creations resulting from this endeavor.

The flat configuration, popularized within the European context of its time, was carefully chosen to amplify the distinctive texture, presence, and steadfastness intrinsic to iron.

Its capacity defies the confines of conventional Japanese demands, instead adhering to a globally recognized standard—neither excessive in size, nor overly modest.

The delicate patterning imbues a sense of tranquility, aligning seamlessly with our intention when crafting implements for the tea ceremony.

The handle's tilting mechanism facilitates convenient storage, while the flat base renders it exceptionally responsive to induction heating.

However, in the event of employing this kettle on an induction heater, it is prudent to maintain a low to medium heat setting. This precaution is vital to avert distortion stemming from concentrated heat.

In bygone eras, iron kettles were suspended from hooks above hearths or set upon braziers, undergoing a gradual heating process over charcoal. This kettle echoes that contemplative ambience—a tool evoking a sense of unhurried serenity. May you relish moments of tranquility and repose as you partake in its use.

2-in-1 Iron kettle and teapot type

You can use this type not only to boil water over an open flame, but also as a teapot with a tea strainer inside.
Nambu ironware is produced using the traditional technique called "kama-yaki" to generate an oxide layer on the surface. It leads to "rust resistance" and "dissolved iron effect" and makes tea and coffee taste better.
