Notice

The surface is coated with an antirust oxide layer using the traditional technique called kama-yaki, but because it is cast iron, rust may occur due to moisture and humidity.
Since the inside is not enameled, the leached iron and tannin may bind and discolor the tea. It is harmless to the human body.

DESCRIPTION

Oshu City, our current location, is renowned as the place where the famous Haiku composed by the poet Matsuo Basho found its origins.

"The summer grass - Only this remains of the warriors' dreams."
( Natsu-kusa ya tsuwamono-domo ga yume no ato )

This particular Haiku served as the inspiration for the creation of the iron kettle before you.

The flat shape of the kettle was a design trend that held popularity across Europe during that era. This form was chosen to aptly capture the distinctive texture, presence, and stability intrinsic to iron.

Though its capacity does not adhere strictly to traditional Japanese standards, it aligns with global norms, striking a balance between excessive and insufficient volume.

The intricate pattern adorning the kettle serves to alleviate sensations of tension. This design objective aligns precisely with our intention when crafting implements for the tea ceremony.

The handle possesses a tilting feature for convenient storage, while the flat base renders it exceptionally responsive to induction heating. However, when employing the kettle on an induction heater, it is imperative to maintain a controlled heat level, ideally on the lower to medium spectrum. This precautionary measure is taken to avert any deformation arising from concentrated heat exposure.

In times of yore, iron kettles were suspended from hooks above the hearth or positioned upon braziers, where they were gradually heated by charcoal. This implement embodies the essence of such a traditional experience. We invite you to relish moments of serenity and tranquility as you make use of this tool.

If the gas flame reaches the body of the pot, the part is likely to discolor, so be careful not to increase the heat too much.
Used over an open flame, the base will gradually turn white.

2-in-1 Iron kettle and teapot type

You can use this type not only to boil water over an open flame, but also as a teapot with a tea strainer inside.
Nambu ironware is produced using the traditional technique called "kama-yaki" to generate an oxide layer on the surface. It leads to "rust resistance" and "dissolved iron effect" and makes tea and coffee taste better.
